You require a complex system to accomplish very simple tasks. The circular bench saw is an example of that. It has countless parts, every piece has been carefully designed to fit into the system and serves one purpose, but it is the combination of all of this that permits us to have a machine that will fulfill our needs for power and mobility. But I often question everything in woodworking and life and wonder whether this is actually needed, we put many resources to create great machines while, in woodworking all that matters is cutting pieces of wood and join them together into useful and aesthetic patterns giving birth in this way to a furniture piece. Put that way, it sounds great, but the more pragmatic person will still think that in the end, it still comes down to cutting and joining wood, do we really need an expensive machine to do that?
