freebiejeebies have recently been expressing their excitement over the new iPod nano to be released by Apple during the last Apple store down time. A complete redesign of a product, almost like welcoming a new face to the family.

The iPod nano’s redesign comes as somewhat of a surprise to most seeing as most of the iPod range had taken somewhat of a back burner considering the clear domination of the iPod touch and iPhone. We’re glad to see Apple have not forgotten but is what they’ve done a good thing?

There’s good things and bad things about the new iPod nano, Apple have focussed the product’s design on a particular market which may have been the wrong choice. The iPod nano had always been the popular choice for gifts as it’s far more affordable than the iPod classic. The iPod nano’s range of colours had always made it very popular with children but it’s new lightweight, easy to lose design may not have been the best idea.

freebiejeebies users this week have been excited about the news of Android being installed on an iPhone. Android is another mobile operating systems, designed specifically for smart phones. It turns out a team of hackers have been able to modify their iPhone to allow them to choose between running iOS or Android when they start up the phone. Currently there are a few features missing but many of the important things are fully functioning although, they have only got it working on the older 2G models but hope that in time they can attract new talent to the cause.

Of course this isn’t the first alternative operating system to be installed on the iPhone, back in 2008, the iphone-dev team was able to install Linux on the iPhone although this had very limited functionality, it only allows the user to communicate over USB to a computer with no touch screen support or even phone calls so would be useless to any normal user.
